Step 1-Strict treatment on bamboo strips with high temperature
After harvest, we cut bamboo pole into stalks and strips. All strips have to be boiled in hot water and boric acid solution. This is very important for removing sugars from the stalks. Because sugars attract termites. This boiling process stops the growth of fungus and mold as well. With few hours boiling, these bamboo strips will be sent into dry kiln to get a less than 10% moisture content. We strips are impossible for gluing and pressing panels.
Step 2: Laminate bamboo strips into panels/boards
After treatment on the strips, we glued these bamboo strips with a urea-formaldehyde (UF) adhesive which emits very low volatile organic compound (VOC). Glued bamboo strips are laminated into layer of board by a 800-ton presser with hot steam. Multiple layers are formed to thick and suitable construction boards with a 1500-ton presser at cold condition, no steam, just static pressure.
Step 3: Sanding and cutting bamboo panels upon customers’ requesting sizes
Surface of bamboo boards are unsmooth after lamination, size of boards are imprecise. It takes twice sanding for both sides of every panel, first sanding is with 200 mesh paper and second is 120 mesh. All bamboo panels need be trimmed to ensure 4 sides are flat and square.
